Ji Tu
Dr Ji Tu is a surgeon-scientist, medical practitioner in Australia, and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). He completed his PhD at UNSW and previously undertook orthopaedic surgical training in China, with a particular focus on spine surgery. He currently works as a Medical Officer within NSW Health while continuing to lead and collaborate on translational and clinical research in spinal disorders.
Dr Tu has also held visiting scholar positions at Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the biological mechanisms, degeneration, and clinical management of spinal disorders. His work has been recognised through several awards and scholarships, including an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship, an ISSLS Young Investigator Award, a DAAD Scholarship, a Croucher Foundation Scholarship, and a Best Poster Award from the Spine Society of Australia.
He is a member of leading international professional organisations, including AO Spine, the North American Spine Society, and the Orthopaedic Research Society. Dr Tu also serves as an Advisory Editorial Board Member of the European Spine Journal and contributes as an editor and reviewer for journals including Bioactive Materials, Spine, European Spine Journal, and Global Spine Journal.
